Save Lambeth Libraries

Can you help?

Lambeth Council are about to publish their proposals on Libraries. We don’t believe they are legal and have solicitors ready to act. We need someone who is willing to take the Council to court, can access legal aid (is on benefits) and is disadvantaged by the Council’s plans to close libraries.
We have legal backing but the solicitors need someone who is:

“eligible for legal aid (if the person has a partner it is their and their partner’s incomes which would be assessed) you need to have a low income, or be in receipt of ‘passported’ benefits. Passporting benefits include Income support, Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, Income-related Employment and Support Allowance or Guarantee Credit. We will require a ‘proof of income’ letter from DWP, or if you and/or your partner are working, your last three months’ of payslips. In addition the Legal Aid Agency require statements for all bank accounts in order to evidence this.”

If this is you or you know someone who might help, please let us know ASAP by contacting UNISON c/o rcashman@lambeth.gov.uk.
